Exhibition outlines of
The 2006 North American International Auto Show |
Tokyo, January 10, 2006 -Fuji Heavy
Industries Ltd. (FHI), a global manufacturer of transportation and
aerospace-related products and the maker of Subaru automobiles, today announced
that three prototype cars which were favorably received at the 39th Tokyo Motor
Show, will be exhibited at the 2006 North American International Auto Show,
which will open its doors to the public from January 14 through 22. (Press days
are from January 8 through 10)
1. SUBARU B5-TPH The Subaru B5-TPH is a grand touring car, which is equipped
with a hybrid system designed for both driving pleasure and low emission, and
Subaru’s signature Symmetrical AWD (All Wheel Drive). Incorporating the theme of
crossover elements –a crossover between a gasoline engine and electric motor,
and between a sport wagon and sport utility vehicle, this is a sport specialty
car, which has efficiency and comfort.
There was much public attention for the original SUBARU hybrid system at the
39th Tokyo Motor Show.
2. SUBARU R1e
Based on the R1 mini car, Subaru is in the process of developing a zero-emission
EV as the ideal ecology car. Using the high performance lithium ion battery
pack, this is the EV which not only excels in power output, but also boasts fast
charging and easy maintenance, both considered problematic aspects of existing
electric vehicles. It is very well suited for Japanese city life as a commuter
vehicle.
3. SUBARU WRC2006 Prototype
This prototype is based on the redesigned Impreza, which was introduced as a
2006 model. Subaru will launch the new version, based on this prototype,
beginning with the 2006 FIA WRC (World Rally Championship) season at the Rallye
Automobile Monte Carlo. (starting January 20th.)
